Today I want to share my new aqaurium with you. It is inspired by the jungle creek biotopes you find in Suriname.
It is a Juwel Lido 200 liter aquarium with a BTN Slimline Amazonas background. The default internal filtration system has been removed and this has been replaced with a JBL external filter and Hydor external heater.
The soil is made of fine sand with small ammounts of HS Aqua Humalit around the few plants. Only two species of plants are used, Echinodorus grisebachii/bleheri (left) and Hydrocleys nymphoides (right). To complete the tank I used tropical wood and Catappa leaves.
The current inhabitants are 20 Nannostomus beckfordi, 2 Nannacara Anomala, 5 Corydoras aneus and 10 Carnegiella strigata. Future plans are to add a pair of Tatia intermedia and an Ancistrus temminckii (the real one).
Notes: I did a partial water change the day before, usually the water is stained a bit more yellow/orange due to the leaves and wood. The fish were also just fed, so they seem a bit restless. ... See MoreSee Less
Time flies, It has been olmost 4 years since we started our first really big tour. So far the video of this trip has been viewed close to 12k times! Thank you all for making this possible. If all goes well I should be organising a new trip to Suriname in 2017.
